The Willows of Bungonia

Bungonia, NSW is home to a beautiful stretch of Australian creeks, rivers and wetlands.

Bungonia Creek is supported by a grove of willow trees which naturally slow and filter the water.

Unlike manmade constructions which speed the water up, fast-tracking erosion and flooding.

The willows of Bungonia have kept the landscape hydrated throughout the long drought.

But now, this grove of willows has been drilled and poisoned with tree-killing glyphosate.

The result will be increased erosion, faster moving flood waters and the draining of the wetlands.

Land and water management in NSW needs to change if we want to have healthier streams and waterways.

We can restore our waterways using Nature Based Solutions.
